Setting The Table For A Family Fall Feast

I absolutely love fall, and I am so excited to share this beautiful fall table with you. It’s my first blog post in the Seasons of Home decorating series for this year. Scroll down to the bottom to see my friend’s tablescapes and fall centerpieces. You will love them all!

I love decorating for the seasons in a unique way and doing a spin on traditional colors and themes. For a fall tablescape, I included natural elements found right outside my door. I used my favorite hues of fall, oranges, greens, and yellows.

Keep reading to see how I styled this simple table, and I hope it inspires you to recreate it in your own home.

It is no secret I love fall. The colors, weather, and overall feeling it brings. Creating this table was pure joy for me. Take a look at last year’s post in this Seasons of Home series HERE. Keep reading for all the details on this year’s table.

A Simple, Inviting Fall TableScape

For this year's fall tablescape, I kept it simple yet used elements that made the table striking, inviting, and interesting.

I like to keep it practical by keeping the centerpiece below eye level so everyone can see each other. And not use too many items, keeping it all mainly in the middle to not feel cramped in.

I am also a huge fan of turning to nature when decorating as I love to use stuff we can find all around us.

Color Palette

Sage green, coral, amber, and earthy tones

Sticking to the traditional fall colors, I toned it down with the softer colors of sage green, coral, amber, and earthy tones.

These colors complement each other so well and bring the table to life. It kind of feels like summer is still hanging on, and does not want to let go! And I love that!

Turning to Nature

Blooms

Our dahlias are in full bloom, and I love that I can cut them straight from the garden. Paired with just the right shade of greenery and dried foliage the coral dahlias are the star of the show.  I used fresh sage as well for a delicious aroma to the table.

Leaf branches

Hanging tree branches and leaves from the chandeliers creates a canopy-like effect and brings more color to the room. And a few leave branches placed in glass jars, add a bit of height. I used branches from our maple trees as well as our fig trees.

Wild mushrooms

Wild mushrooms are popping up all over the farm, and I was amazed at how they look like cute little flowers. Ever so often, we miss the small details in life.

So, at the last minute, I decided these mushroom flowers must be part of the decor! And they add such a fun element! My favorite part was turning them upside down so you could see the underneath of the tops. So beautiful.

Table Linen

Neutral woven placemats

These beautiful placemats set the stage for setting the crockery and soften the wooden table. I love how the frilled edges make the table more "relaxed" and playful. It also adds visual interest.

Sage napkins

A favorite of mine! They are so versatile as they pair with many other color schemes, making it easy to use them repeatedly. Their frills also add to the relaxed look!

Glassware & Decorative Items

Glass bottles and vases

You can never go wrong with cute glass bottles and vases. Such a simple item can make such a big impact. These sage green and amber glass bottles ad extra pops of color and pull the color palette through.

You can get them here and here

Candles and tea lights

Also, of course, always a hit, adding that desired ambiance and glow. Even in daylight!

These gold mercury candle holders I used are crafted in India with classic mercury glass, finished in antiqued gold. They add texture and shine with their beautiful design. You can get them here.

Leaf serving board

Adding some wood elements to a tablescape always seems to make it more natural and warm. I used a beautiful leaf serving board to serve the water and drinks, and it tied in so well with all the colors and the fall theme.

Vintage mirror

Although I did not use this gorgeous vintage mirror for the fall tablescape, it will add such a touch of elegance. If you have a table standing by a wall, place it against the wall for the candle lights to reflect against. Or lay it down on the table and use it as a centerpiece!

Dishware And Cutlery

Dinner plates, salad plates, and bowls

I chose to mix the colors for these three items, which turned out so well! The different colors make things more visually appealing, and the dark bowls tie in nicely with the dark wooden table.

I love that these stoneware dishes items have a casual rustic café vibe to them that creates unique dimensional place settings with the different textures.

Old fashioned glasses

I love a pretty glass! It can really make or break a table setting. I used these double old-fashioned glasses detailed with raised dots and smooth fluting. They feel steady in your hand and can hold a variety of beverages, from sparkling water to mocktails.

Cutlery

The twig-inspired knives, forks, and spoons add natural but elegant charm and a lively look to the place settings.
