‘Something for the home’ gift ideas

fragrant STOVETOP POTPOURRI

An aromatic blend that’s perfect gift! Add the contents of the jar to a warm stovetop and you’ve got the most delicious scent for your home this holiday season

RECIPE

Ingredients:

1 Orange

1 Lemon

1 Blood Orange

8 cinnamon sticks

4 Tsp Cloves

4 Ball® 8oz Jars

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 F degrees.

  2. Slice citrus thinly to 1/4 or 1/8 inch slices.

  3. Place on baking tray ( works best if you place on a cookie rack and then place on a baking sheet. Helps there be airflow on the bottom as well and they dehydrate more easily)

  4. Dehydrate in the oven for 6-8 hours until fully dry. Do not let the citrus still have moisture as this will lead to molding in the jar prior to use.

  5. Once done assemble your jars.

  6. Divide contents evenly into the 4 jars.

  7. Add a tag and even fresh herbs to decorate the jar ( the fresh herbs can also be used in the simmer pot)

  8. When using place contents of jar into a pot of about 4 cups of water

  9. Simmer contents on medium low and enjoy the beautiful aroma they release

  10. Good for 2-3 days then compost.

handy sewing kit

This is one of my favorite gifts to make! It’s the perfect small sewing kit that has all you need in a pinch.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

1 Ball® 4 oz mason jar

4” square of fabric of choice

2-3 spools of thread

A few needles

Safety pins

Buttons

Hot glue gun

Small amount of pillow stuffing

HOW TO:

Take pillow stuffing material and make a little pile above the lid.

Take your piece of fabric and cover it, tucking it under the lid.

Cut the fabric so there is not too much excess.

Use a hot glue gun to glue the material to the bottom of the lid. The pillow stuffing should mound on top of the lid and make a half circle. This will be your pin cushion.

Fill the jar with desired sewing essentials.

Place the lid with the pin cushion above and secure with the band.

GIFT TO SOMEONE!

I know your family and friends will love these DIY gifts in beautiful mason jars! Handmade gifts made with love are often so much more valuable and special than store-bought gifts.
