Choosing the right apple really makes a difference when cooking and I love Autumn Glory because they are always fresh and crisp. Not to mention they have hints of cinnamon and caramel and really do taste perfect for the holidays.

Ava has been loving apples lately and it’s so fun having these moments to share with her. She runs up to me and says “apple, apple” It’s SO cute! She of course “helped me” make this tart.

Jared is gluten-free so I try as often as possible to create and make recipes he can enjoy. This was a big hit with him which I was so excited about. The key to it coming out properly is to use the right pan. I got THIS one and it was really easy to life the tart out.

I love it when we can eat a meal together although it’s not very often that we all sit down as a family! You can see Georgia also really wanted to be a part of the excitement. Sharing a meal and taking time to put away our phones and really focus on each other is SO very important and a vital part of of us staying connected and grounded for Little Ava. It’s also what this special season is all about.

See the recipe below! I think this is such a tasty treat that is actually lower in sugar than most and gluten free so all can enjoy!

Apple Tart Recipe

Apple tart with raspberry and orange zest

INGREDIENTS:

CRUST

1.5 cup almond flour

1 1/2 Tbs sugar

3/4 cup shredded coconut

1/8 tsp salt

Pinch of cinnamon

TARTE

2 Autumn Glory® apples

1 1/2 tsp lemon juice

1/2 cup raspberry jam ( you may end up using just 1/4 but warm up more so you have plenty to brush on.

DIRECTIONS

1.Preheat oven to 350

2.In a small bowl mix the crust ingredients.

3.Use a round 9.5” pan. Spray pan with oil. Pour the crust mix in the tart pan and spread out and press down to flatten all along the bottom and sides of the tart pan. Press down well and spread out evenly around the pan.

4.Peel the apples and cut them in half through the stem. Remove the stems and cores with a sharp knife and  slice the apples crosswise in 1/4-inch thick slices. Toss in the lemon juice.

5.Arrange apples in concentric circles over the crust overlapping like a fan until you’ve covered the crust entirely.  You can do any pattern you want. I just try to stack them close so it’s full.

6.Bake for 30-35 min

7.In the meanwhile heat your jam in a small saucepan until it is liquified.

8.Once the tart is baked brush the jam onto the tart evenly all the way around. Sprinkle with. a little cinnamon and finish with a little orange zest!

Enjoy
