How to sell your Chicken Eggs
It is such fun to gather fresh eggs daily! It’s even more fun to sell your chicken eggs and make a profit back. I hope this blog post gives you the necessary tools to be able to start selling your own eggs!

HOW TO KEEP TRACK OF SALES
You can use my Egg Sales Record to keep track of monthly/weekly sales, and it’s all on one sheet! At the end of the year, you’ll have it all neatly organized on one page.
HOW MUCH MONEY CAN YOU MAKE?
Let’s do some math!
10 (Number of chickens you have)
5 (Average number of eggs laid per day) Chickens don’t lay an egg every day, so if you have 10 hens, maybe 5 will lay. Again, these are just averages.
35 (Average number of eggs per week. Assuming you are getting about 5 eggs per day)
6 (Average number of 1/2 dozen eggs you get. I just rounded it up to 36 eggs to make it an even 6 1/2 dozen)
Sell each 1/2 dozen for $3 ( This is what I usually do for organic free-range eggs)
Total 6x3 = $18
$18x4 ( $18/week x 4 weeks/month)
= $72/MONTH
= $864/YEAR
That is enough money to cover all your chicken expenses plus some! So fun right? That’s just with an average of 10 chickens! Imagine if you had 20! You could double the income for the year.
HOW TO TRACK EGG PRODUCTION
Below is my favorite printable to track how many eggs your chickens lay each year! It’s all on one page, and an easy way to get the kids involved. They can help you keep track of egg production.
Sometimes in the winter, your production will go down, but the girls will make up for it in the summer months!
WHERE DO YOU SELL YOUR EGGS AND TO WHO?
There are many options for selling your eggs! I mostly sell mine to friends, family, and neighbors.
I have a signup sheet, and it’s first come, first served. People sign up, and as eggs are available, I bring them in and cross their names off the list. They can then sign up again. It’s a fun way to do it and it’s easy!
Usually, it’s word of mouth and friends and family who will promote your eggs for you! Once someone tastes farm-fresh eggs, it’s hard to go back to the store-bought kind!
HOW TO PACKAGE YOUR EGGS TO SELL
When selling eggs, it’s best to use a black carton with no branding on it ( except your own). You are not selling Kirkland eggs, so don’t use their packaging ;-)
I get my egg cartons from The Egg Carton Store. They have a wonderful variety and a great price compared to others. I love to get a carton I can stamp with my custom stamps. This just makes them more special and personalized.
