Naturally Dyed Eggs for spring 2020

Spring is here! Time for warmer days and fun family activities! How about dying eggs naturally? The is a great activity for the whole family to do, and you won’t be disappointed with the results!

I

I decided to do eggs this year again! It’s so fun and the colors are just so beautiful and unexpected! I used a few different ingredients from last time and I’m really happy with how they turned out. If you have not done this yet I’d say it’s definitely a fun family activity to do together!

SUPPLIES NEEDED

20-25 Hard boiled eggs ( I use my chickens eggs so they are white, light cream, and brown)

1/2 a red cabbage

2-3 raw beets

3-4 avocado pits

white vinegar

mixing bowls

DIRECTIONS

Boil veggies in separate pots for about an hour. Let cool ( Use enough water to cover veggies)

Add 3 TBS white vinegar to each mixture ( this is optional but does help the color develop and adhere more.

Then place eggs in dye. Vary the amount of time in each. The eggs won’t turn dark right away. You have to soak them in the mixtures to get the results.

I’d say leave some in for 1-2 hours then remove

3-4 hours then remove

24 hours then remove

After removing pat them dry. The colors will develop. Especially the deep blues after about 24 hours.

You can eat these eggs!

If just for display add some gold foil for sparkle!! Woohoo!
