It’s officially Christmas season and I’ve got most of the home decorated for the holidays. I’ve taken a more simple approach this year incorporating lots of fresh garland and using items I already owned. I love the twinkle lights and the magic they create. Keep reading to see a few areas of our home decorated and also my friends homes as we continue to share for our seasons of home series. KITCHEN

I love decorating the kitchen! Simple touches that add the spirit of the holiday into the space without being overly obvious. Fresh pine on the open shelves, a bell, and a tiny tree are some of my favorite details.

Our kitchen is still a functional kitchen. The open shelves hold our glasses and bowls. Rolling pins sit in the corner where we can grab them easily for all of the holiday baking. Wood spoons and knives are easily accessible as well as some salt, oils, and seasonings. I love to add some beauty but keep it functional as well.

Dinning Room and Office Nook

For this area of our home I used a lot of the fresh garland from Lynch Creek Farms. Beautiful cedar garland that brings a delicious fresh smell into the home. I added some mercury garland and antique bells. Mismatched metals are something I love to do and since I didn’t want to buy anything new I mixed together what I had.

In our dinning room there is a large mirror above our buffet. I draped more garland and added a bit of blue ribbon to the corner. Simple and yet elegant. In the corner there is a King of Christmas Tree which I love so much. It is pre-lit which makes it easy to assemble and can be used year after year. I love fresh tree’s too but for the large trees in our home I like ones I know we can enjoy all season long.

Right next to our dining room is the office nook with reading area. Here I have a large antique window frame which is perfect to display family photos from. I love to place pictures from Christmas past here. I’m still waiting to get some prints to hang but for now there’s a few! The fresh cedar wreath is also from Lynch Creek Farms.

The reading nook is my favorite! It’s cozy and full of natural light. I stacked all my cutting boards in the corner and even added a little craft Ava made on a playdate with her cousins. If you can’t tell it’s a Christmas Tree. I love creating little spaces that are personalized and full of character.

LIVING ROOM

This probably goes against the norm but I decided not to add any ornaments or decor to our tree this year. I love a beautiful tree with just twinkle lights. Our living room tree is a 12 foot pre-lit tree from Costco. Our ceiling are super high and because of this I wanted a very tall tree. We have had a natural tree here before but it was difficult to find one tall enough to safely place in our living room. So faux its is!

I love incorporating something handmade each year. For this year I did salt dough ornaments! Ava and I made them together and it was a fun way to decorate together. HERE is a post with information on the salt dough ornaments.

Here you can see Ava helping me vacuum in the corner! She is such a good helper! This is a true picture of our living room. Not everything is perfect but it’s still magical and beautiful to me!
